Note for the site owner: this is a working draft written for a matrimonial platform. Have it reviewed by a lawyer, and fill in your registered business name, address and grievance officer details before you go live.

1. Who we are

Aanand Mangal ("we", "us") operates this matrimonial website and the related services. We are the data fiduciary for the personal information you share with us.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address and, if you add one, a mobile number. We never store a password because the site does not use one.
• Profile details: date of birth, gender, marital status, height, religion, community, mother tongue, horoscope details, location, education, occupation, income range, diet and lifestyle, family details and your written introduction.
• Photographs you upload.
• Partner preferences, shortlists, interests you send or receive, and messages exchanged with other members.
• Anything you send us through the contact form or by email.

Information collected automatically

• Log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and timestamps.
• Session information stored in your browser to keep you signed in.

3. Why we use it

• To create and display your profile to other members.
• To find and rank matches based on your preferences.
• To let members express interest, accept or decline, and message one another.
• To send service emails such as your sign in code, interest alerts and message notifications.
• To verify identity, prevent fraud, moderate content and investigate reports.
• To provide customer support.

4. Who can see your information

Your profile is visible to other signed in members, subject to the privacy settings you choose. You control two settings directly:

• Photo visibility. Everyone, signed in members only, or only members whose interest you accept.
• Contact visibility. All members, or only members whose interest you accept.

You can also hide your profile from search entirely at any time from Settings. We never sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Service providers

We share limited data with the providers who help us run the service: database hosting, application hosting, image storage and email delivery. They may process data only on our instructions.

6. Legal disclosure

We may disclose information where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a government authority, or where necessary to protect the safety of a member or the public.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your profile while your account is open. When you close your account we hide your profile immediately and retain records only for as long as required for legal, accounting and fraud prevention purposes.

8. Security

There are no passwords to steal. Sign in codes are stored hashed, expire in minutes and work once. Connections to the site and API use TLS, and access to member data is restricted to staff who need it. Please keep your email account secure, since that is what proves who you are.

9. Your rights

• Access and correct your profile at any time from Edit profile.
• Download or request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Hide your profile temporarily, or close your account permanently.
• Withdraw consent for marketing email while keeping essential service email.

10. Children

The service is only for people aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and remove such accounts when we find them.

11. Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember display preferences such as grid or list view. We do not use advertising cookies from anyone.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will notify members by email or with a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
